Summer nights and young veins…
Summer nights and young veins...

I went with Bonnie to see the The Young Veins play on a rooftop 48 floors up in midtown.  St. Germaine, music, beautiful weather, with a good friend.  The night felt like a smile and a sigh. I’ve started putting together these little videos here and there.  Each video takes about 40 minutes to piece [...]

Laura Marling at Music Hall of Williamsburg
Laura Marling at Music Hall of Williamsburg

I went to a show the other night that was really nostalgic for me. A couple years ago when I was first posting photos from my time spent on the road on this little blog, I went to see a couple of great British imports– Johnny Flynn, Mumford & Sons, and Laura Marling. I was [...]

I’ve now logged 100+ hours on the project I’m currently working on. I’m terrible with spoilers… but I can’t help it.

Fauxchella 2010
Fauxchella 2010

I spent the weekend in Santa Maria, CA with 25 friends– old and new– for the 3rd annual Fauxchella. It’s our own gorilla music festival where we hang out, eat, and collaborate making music for 48 hours– culminating in a Saturday night concert and dance party. You can see last years post from Fauxchella here, [...]

Mumford & Sons – Music Hall of Williamsburg
Mumford & Sons - Music Hall of Williamsburg

I had the pleasure of seeing Mumford & Sons in Williamsburg today. Haven’t seen them play since I was in Seattle last October. Please check out their music and their debut album which will hit the States soon. A little video from their myspace page: Mumford & Sons / Little Lion Man videoMumford and Sons [...]

Phoenix & Passion Pit
Phoenix & Passion Pit

My computer battery is about to die and I’m a couple miles above middle America (first in-flight blog post?) so I just want to get these images published. Great show last night– Phoenix & Passion Pit in Central Park. Passion Pit was great, but Phoenix was INCREDIBLE. Such a good show. Enjoy these images from [...]

The Vacaville Sessions.
The Vacaville Sessions.

Nothing to post of my stuff today.  But a real treat instead… While on the bus to the odd Tiki Bar we went to in Staten Island, all 7 of us took a turn on my iPhone to have a listen to the song you’re about to lay ears on.  A song sent to us [...]

Top 50 of 1,993. Now I need your help.
Top 50 of 1,993. Now I need your help.

Well for those of you who didn’t know this, I applied for a job in Sonoma county at a winery called Murphy-Goode.  The job description is simple: “We want to hire a social media whiz (your title will be “Murphy-Goode Wine Country Lifestyle Correspondent”) who will report on the cool lifestyle of Sonoma County Wine [...]

A great little stop motion short…
A great little stop motion short...

I found this incredible stop-motion video by Tomas Mankovsky on (ehem…) Kanye West’s blog. It’s an incredible find… and to be honest, I really like Kanye’s blog. Can’t really vouch for it because I haven’t spent that much time on it, but he has some good stuff on there. Sil-Comp2Uploaded by videos22. – Arts and [...]

Fauxchella, part I.
Fauxchella, part I.

So this last 6 weeks has been a crazy time for me. A time of funerals and moving and couch-hopping and jet setting and bank accounts emptying and nerve-racking meetings. And the days ahead are filled with tons of shoots and grant applications and phone/in-person meetings. Its not slowing down. So sorry for my absence [...]

Showmans, a wonderful historic Blues Club in Harlem, was the choice for Friday night out with Jon and Matt.  Good choice.  Check it out:

Beirut. Brooklyn, New York.
Beirut. Brooklyn, New York.

Tonight I fumbled my way through a crowd of bouncing Brooklyn hipsters and music geeks to see what turned out to be an excellent show.  I was in there on a press pass, so I was somewhat confused by the following interaction: Zach Condon says some nonsensical tuning-in-between-songs band banter. Tall, sinister man standing next [...]

Bleeding Bells… Delta Spirit in London, England.
Bleeding Bells... Delta Spirit in London, England.

Just when I needed a break from my California home-sickness, I get a taste of good old Long Beach.  I saw that Delta Spirit (here & here) was playing in Londontown. It was honestly the best show I’ve seen over theirs, and I think their first in the UK.

Medi & the Medcine Show. London, England.

I returned to London for a brief hiatus from my trip to the coun’ry for a meeting today. I’m heading back to Cornwall tomorrow for one more week of relaxation before I’m back to New York City. Tonight I went to a show near King’s Cross. Hadn’t ever heard them before, but the French band [...]

Blues Club. London, England.
Blues Club. London, England.

Scott, Ben, Finn and I went to a crowded-but-authentic Blues Club the other night. It was the weekly open mic night where they piece together bands from the sign-up list, throw them on stage, and let them roll with it. There were some incredibly talented musicians there. I wish I could post a live recording [...]

Welcome Wagon, New York, NY
Welcome Wagon, New York, NY

There’s always something great going on in New York. It can become a daunting task to try and manage your time here. But it’s a good problem to have, I think– too much good stuff to do. Today, after breakfast with Ira, we headed over to Gagosian Gallery on 21st in Chelsea and checked out [...]

Johnny Flynn+Laura Marling+Mumford & Sons, Seattle, WA

I was blown away last night by Johnny Flynn, Laura Marling, and Mumford & Sons at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle last night. I went there to photograph the show and was absolutely floored by all 3 performances. I’ve already been a big fan of Johnny’s but Laura and M & Sons are now up [...]
