While I was in Brazil for Ira & Andrea’s wedding I had a couple extra days on my own at the end. I spent a good chunk of that time staying out of the rain and editing footage from the wedding, but I also took about 24 hours to put together a 140-second short [...]

I’ve been working on a side project for the last 6 months that is now finally (beginning) to come to fruition. After 1 photo shoot and a very brief video shoot, I’m moving forward with an international “blogumentary” project entitled “Shake The Dust.” The documentary, which will ideally be shared in the form of videos, [...]

Is it weird that I’ve had this GAP tear-out of Scott Schuman with me for a year and a half now? Wrinkled and slightly moldy, it’s hanging alone above my desk while I wait to order some artwork for my workspace.
Well, a couple of months ago, Schuman posted this photo on his blog, which he [...]

Tonight I went to Soho to see a movie I’d been anticipating called Adam. What I didn’t realize is that it was opening night, I was at one of four theaters nationwide at which it was playing, and the director along with the lead actor, Hugh Dancy, were there to introduce it.
Only in New York [...]

Well for those of you who didn’t know this, I applied for a job in Sonoma county at a winery called Murphy-Goode. The job description is simple:
“We want to hire a social media whiz (your title will be “Murphy-Goode Wine [...]

I was lucky to have a correspondent at the 2009 Biennale in Venice, Italy a couple weeks ago. Good friend, former roommate, current pseudo-roommate, traveling companion, shooting partner, and sometimes boss (whew), Ira Lippke, took a recent break after a long 5-wedding month to check out the Biennale before heading over to the South [...]

Well, I can’t give you any actual shots from the shoot yet, but here’s some behind-the-scenes shots. More to come tomorrow or the next day…

I’m working on a long term project of putting together images that I capture of humans interacting with nature. I don’t have a set thing I’m looking for, but I do want them to be sort of surreal. These first couple of images are 2 of the other ones I’m thinking of using.

I don’t usually post wedding photos… not for any particular reason but I just don’t. I couldn’t resist today though because yesterday was a day of “best-of’s” for weddings I’ve shot. I have a feeling this couple is going to experience lots of mazel for years to come…
Best Wedding singer(s) (as well as [...]

So this last 6 weeks has been a crazy time for me. A time of funerals and moving and couch-hopping and jet setting and bank accounts emptying and nerve-racking meetings. And the days ahead are filled with tons of shoots and grant applications and phone/in-person meetings. Its not slowing down.
So sorry for [...]

Saw a great film the other day recommended by my friend Desiree. Please see it if you get a chance. It’s not only a great dialogue about the photographer’s role when it comes to humanitarian crises, but it’s filled with beautiful and tragic imagery by world famous war photographer, James Nachtway. Check out [...]

Last night Michelle Williams, founder and designer of the clothing line Quail, hosted a party and fashion show in New York for her 2009 Fall collection. Unfortunately, due to an emergency back home in Indiana, I was not able to photograph the event. However, my roommate and incredible photographer, Ira Lippke, covered my butt and [...]

Thanks to Ira for the heads up on this one. So wonderful! Check it out here: http://www.theplaceswelive.com/

These images are a part of a larger body of work that I’m working on. More on that later…

I love viewing art that lifts my soul. In fact, good art, to me, lifts the soul. I by no means am suggesting that art should make you happy– possibly quite the opposite. But art, to me, should resonate in our chests. It should reverberate deep down in the pit of our [...]

I posted some of these photos last week, but I’ve wanted to post them again with a few additional shots now that my new (HD) blog is up. These were all taken on a wonderful, balmy Sunday afternoon here in New York.

Yesterday I went over to the wonderful LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) with Jody and Josh to see one of the current exhibitions, “Vanity Fair Portraits: Photographs 1913–2008″.
It was a fantastic exhibit that left us all a little overwhelmed once we’d invested the time to see and read about nearly every photograph. [...]

My friend Ben Bishop passed this along to me. I love it. For more info on Myoung Ho Lee check out The Morning News

Saturday night Winn and I headed over to an excellent community event in Seal Beach. There was a lot of stuff happening/people involved, so I’m resorting to a list here (in no particular order):
1. Bro Futurists
2. The Salon
3. Avi Buffalo
4. Dan Callis’s studio opening
5. The Hobo Soul (and soup!)
6. [...]

I decided to post the pictures from the actual opening of Mattia Biagi’s work separate from the images of the installation itself.
