Noah Purifoy

I mentioned before that I find the California Desert to be one of the most beautiful/tragic/inspiring places I know. Among the many different nuanced sites, roadside bars, natural wonders, and folk projects, you can add Noah Purifoy’s Joshua Tree Environment to the list of hauntingly beautiful things to see. Just outside of Joshua Tree National Forest, it is a massive, bizarre, long-term installation project. You can check out more information about it on his site, but to really experience it, you need to see it.

  1. the shot with the white chairs has such humanity. it breathes what little life is left

  2. This is my favorite place to go in Joshua Tree. Whenever i head out that way, this is the first place I want to take people when first getting out there.
