So in the midst of a month of unexpected twists and turns, I took a four day trip to Phoenix. In the name of sparing travel expenses, I used gotobus.com to find a cheap bus there from the Los Angeles area. When I arrived at the bus station (aka the ABC Supermarket in Westminster), I was directed to a van filled with lovely smiling Chinese immigrants. The driver handed me a sandwich (turkey, cilantro, hot peppers, mayo on french bread) and a water bottle and I packed into the van along with bags of produce and cartons of eggs.
Sound like a strange way to travel? Well, I must say it was great. I was comfortable, the van was air conditioned, and I got to Phoenix about 2 hours sooner then if I had taken a bus (for about $15 cheaper).
