Well, folks. I can’t say this hasn’t been a tough month. But everyone has ‘em, right? And I just feel so blessed to have a great community on both coasts and in the middle that care about me.

Saw a great film the other day recommended by my friend Desiree. Please see it if you get a chance. It’s not only a great dialogue about the photographer’s role when it comes to humanitarian crises, but it’s filled with beautiful and tragic imagery by world famous war photographer, James Nachtway. Check out a great [...]

I’ve said it once, and now here’s the official blog post: Eat. More. Macarons. But don’t get those crappy ones that your mom said were macarons (probably even spelled with two O’s… bleh). Do yourself a favor and get a real macaron like the ones at Macaron Cafe in New York.

I’m not going to go out on a limb and say this is the best mexican food in Long Beach, but it is my favorite. Maybe it’s the outdoor seating. Maybe it’s the greasily-delicious fish tacos. Maybe it’s because it’s always been a short walk or bike ride from anywhere I’ve lived in Long Beach. [...]

The best place I’ve found for breakfast in New York. There might be a better place out there– but I haven’t found it. There’s a pretty expansive menu, with something for everyone’s taste. But the bottom line: for a mere $6.50 you can get coffee (decent), freshly squeezed orange juice (delicious), eggs, potatoes, and toast. [...]

…at least this spring (I think). I’m not usually inclined to photograph flowers. That’s been done. But my friends will tell you that I do love to garden, love to stop and smell the flowers, have had a garden in my previous two houses, and plan on having a garden in the next apartment I [...]

I like Dave. Dave likes bikes. See how Dave likes bikes. Dave rides bikes. See how Dave likes bikes he rides. Dave bikes. I like Dave.

Long Beach City, people. Snoop and Sublime weren’t kidding… I swear this place is like non-stop summer. The last picture was taken by Josh McBride.

This has been a very crazy couple of weeks for me. A good friend of mine from home passed away this past week. It was a jarring and unexpected turn of events and my career and life in New York– and everything under that umbrella including this blog– kind of went on hold. But it [...]

Well, I’m coming to the end of the posts from 2 weekends ago but I still have 14 different posts to edit from these last 2 weeks. Here are some shots of one of my favorite families, the S.D.s. I absolutely love ‘em and I feel like these pictures do a pretty good job encapsulating [...]

Man, what a crazy week. So much to say/write/show… But in the mean time here’s a little throwback to my trip to California. This is Wilder Ranch in Santa Cruz.

Last night Michelle Williams, founder and designer of the clothing line Quail, hosted a party and fashion show in New York for her 2009 Fall collection. Unfortunately, due to an emergency back home in Indiana, I was not able to photograph the event. However, my roommate and incredible photographer, Ira Lippke, covered my butt and [...]

Grief. My tongue is tied to write anything else so I’ll let someone else do the speaking. These pictures were taken by Josh on the central coast. The words are Annie Dillard’s. “I’ve been bloodied and mauled, wrung, dazzled, drawn. I taste salt on my lips in the early morning; I surprise my eyes in [...]

Just got back from California. Took the red-eye. EXHAUSTED. It was a great trip out to LA though. Got to see friends, meet with some clients, take some pictures, and shoot a great wedding. So so so many pictures to come. I’m swimming in photo shoots to edit. I’ll keep pumping them out… Here’s some [...]

Last weekend was one of those times that you don’t realize how great it was until later. I had such a good time with Jon and Josh visiting our friends in the mountains above Santa Cruz. Miss it/them already!

This is a spot on the coast of California in Big Sur. It’s a pretty special place with some good memories. The other day when we went there it was so lush and colorful. Check it:
