Maybe this is common in New York, but the exploding smoking manhole in the middle of th e street came off as a terrorist attack to this naive photographer. Don’t worry, nobody was harmed (that I know of). The coolest thing was the last photo. The manhole was spraying smoke, and then it spit out a perfect smoke ring that floated up to the sky. So great.
