Welcome distraction. Morwenstow, England.

Josh and I have been slaving away (or trying to) at a writing project here in Cornwall. But there have been plenty of distractions that we haven’t been able to bear turning away.

We’ve taken multiple trips to the coast. The other day we went (in the pouring rain) to the charming town of Clovelly.

The other night Josh, and 3 of our friends here in Bude (Anthony, David & Gareth) went over to David’s sister and brother-in-law’s restaurant, The Castle, for a wonderful meal on the house.

Check out some of the food we got to eat:

1st course:
Chicken liver parfait with onion jam and toast.
Baked goats cheese bruschetta with spiced walnuts.
Grilled squid with squid ink risotto and gremolata.

2nd course:
Char-grilled Cornish rump-steak with chunk chips, rocket and garlic butter.
Grilled radicchio, red wine, and blue cheese risotto.

Dessert:
Chocolate brownie with honeycomb ice cream
Creme Brulee.

YUM!

Yesterday Josh and I took a day long hike through the valley and farmlands to the ocean. We forged our way through the woods, across farmland, along cliffs, and through fields. We even rescued a goat who was caught in a fence!  And the adventure wouldn’t have been complete if I hadn’t fallen in the river at some point…
