Blues Club. London, England.
Blues Club. London, England.

Scott, Ben, Finn and I went to a crowded-but-authentic Blues Club the other night. It was the weekly open mic night where they piece together bands from the sign-up list, throw them on stage, and let them roll with it. There were some incredibly talented musicians there. I wish I could post a live recording [...]

New Europe **free** tour. London, England.
New Europe **free** tour. London, England.

Yesterday Scott and I went on a tour in London with New Europe Tours. I’ve been on their tours in Berlin and Paris and they’ve always been really good. This tour was no exception (despite that Scott and I nearly froze our toes off before we were done). They’re free, with an expected tip at [...]

English Breakfast. London, England.

Sorry the posts have been more scarce of late. It has been helpful to have a bit of a break though. My good buddy Scott got in the other day from the States for a fortnight of escapades in London. This morning we got up early(ish) and wondered around in the bitter cold until we [...]

Arsenal v. Portsmouth. London, England.
Arsenal v. Portsmouth. London, England.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending a football match here in London. The Lawerences (family I’m staying with here in London) gave me a ticket for the Arsenal/Portsmouth game yesterday. Despite the freezing cold temperatures, it was a lot of fun. I wasn’t able to take my camera so I shot some photos with [...]

Kew Gardens. London, England.
Kew Gardens. London, England.

Sorry for so few posts this last week. It’s been weird adjusting to being here. Then add in the buzz of the holidays, and how exhausted I’ve been, AND the fact that there is only a few hours of precious daylight and it makes for a very unmotivated Adam. Yesterday I spent the afternoon exploring [...]

Christmas in London.
Christmas in London.

Yesterday I had a yule of a time. The holiday goodies were over-flowing here on the Great Island of the United Kingdom. From a massive sausage-stuffed Christmas bird, to piles of savory entrees, (including a delectable pear-salad covered in walnuts and blue-cheese sauce), bricks and bricks of cheese and biscuits and tea and profiteroles and [...]

Rainy and gray, beautiful day. London, England.

It was a great day yesterday. I had plans to go to all these museums, but I just got side-tracked. But hey, I have a whole month and a half to see those shows. Below are some pictures from yesterday of Ben, Finn, and Mike. Most of them are of Mike because he left last [...]

Sister Winter. London, England.
Sister Winter. London, England.

My internet is about to run out, but I just wanted to check in. I haven’t taken any photos since I’ve been here… which has been good. I needed a little break after Istanbul. I’ll have something up tomorrow, I promise. In the mean time I’ve had a great time with my friend Ben and [...]

Day 6. Istanbul, Turkey.
Day 6. Istanbul, Turkey.

It’s late here in Istanbul and my eyes are weary.  My trip has been incredible and jam-packed with so many activities, sites, sounds, and people…. and FOOD. Tonight I went to a dinner with a bunch of other non-turkish people to Mine’s (Me-nay) house for a massive Turkish meal.  They certainly know how to feed [...]

Sylvester’s haircut. Istanbul, Turkey
Sylvester's haircut. Istanbul, Turkey

Sylvester went in to the barber the other day for a haircut and I went along and snapped some shots… Dan Perez, circa 2006?

Day 5. Istanbul, Turkey.
Day 5. Istanbul, Turkey.

I took so many pictures today that some of them our going to be broken up into separate stories. Istanbul is a giant iceberg and these last couples of days I’ve simply grazed the very top. It’s a city absolutely brimming, until over-flowing, with colors, textures, sites and sounds. I could spend forever exploring the [...]

Day 4. Istanbul, Turkey.
Day 4. Istanbul, Turkey.

Wow. This city is so beautiful. Today was kind of a long, but great day. I spent the first half of the day working to pass out clothes to refugees. That was interesting and kind of hectic. We were passing out brand new donated sweatshirts and I was mobbed by a Somalian, two Congolese, and [...]

Boxing. Istanbul, Turkey.
Boxing. Istanbul, Turkey.

Yesterday, after exploring the city with Sylvester, we met up with his brother Bob and took a taksi over to the Fener Bahçe club (a national athletic club) and the club owner was nice enough to allow me to snap pictures of their boxing practice.

Day 3. Istanbul, Turkey.
Day 3. Istanbul, Turkey.

Today was an incredibly eventful day. I don’t want to say too much about it yet because I have two stories coming that I just don’t have time to finish tonight (its 2 AM) but I’m pretty excited about them. I met some good friends (Bob and Sylvester) and had some fun adventures. AND filled [...]

Day 2. Istanbul, Turkey.
Day 2. Istanbul, Turkey.

My second full day here is passed. It was a colorful one… Turkish pastries are delicious… (Turkish Delight) Nazim & Kamil. The door men at the apartment I’m staying at. Great guys.

Day 1. Istanbul, Turkey.
Day 1. Istanbul, Turkey.

This morning I woke up in Istanbul, went to a Christmas church service in The Netherlands, and then visited with some friends in Asia. The church service was in Beyoglu, in Istanbul, held in a Dutch chapel on the Dutch consulate, technically in the Netherlands. There were 20 nations represented in the choir and we [...]

Good morning Istanbul! Istanbul, Turkey.
Good morning Istanbul! Istanbul, Turkey.

I woke up at 2:30 AM feeling like it was 10:00 AM. I couldn’t sleep, try as I might, so I entertained myself with War and Peace until about 7:00 AM when I got up, just before first light, for a cup of tea. Later, Dave made a great Turkish breakfast which is going to [...]

Charles De Gaulle. Paris, France.
Charles De Gaulle. Paris, France.

Well, after catching the flu and darting out of New York just as it was at its worst, I’m finally feeling better (though weakened). Took some shots at CDG in Paris before boarding my flight. And as of tonight I have a new Visa/Stamp in my passport. I’m staying for the next week in the [...]

A Rainy Day In Manhattan. New York, NY.
A Rainy Day In Manhattan. New York, NY.

Well, I’m wrapping up the last of my work before I head out to Istanbul tomorrow night (Ashley and Hope, your wedding pics are on the way ). In the mean time, its cold and rainy sweater weather here on the island. My new roommate, Ira,  installing his work for his show tomorrow night at [...]

Cups at the Roebling. Brooklyn, NY.
Cups at the Roebling. Brooklyn, NY.

We grabbed tea last night at the Roebling Tea Room. They were shutting down the place because it was unusually slow so all of the candles were in bunches around the restaurant. Made for some cool photos. Check out the Roebling if you’re ever in Brooklyn. It’s one of my favorites. I’ve been there several [...]

Welcome Wagon, New York, NY
Welcome Wagon, New York, NY

There’s always something great going on in New York. It can become a daunting task to try and manage your time here. But it’s a good problem to have, I think– too much good stuff to do. Today, after breakfast with Ira, we headed over to Gagosian Gallery on 21st in Chelsea and checked out [...]
