I am happy. Long Beach, CA.

This weekend was nothing short of epic. Jess and Tyler (whom I love) are engaged. And… Josh McBride has returned from a summer in Alaska. This weekend was laughing until my stomach hurt. Was being moved nearly to tears at the sight of Jess’s engagement ring (which is wonderful and unique and… great). Was sunsets in El Segundo and cheese-filled mushrooms. It was walking down to the marina with McBride and wandering into a circus tent and seeing crazy things. And hearing him talk about this great girl in the Northwest. It was… just so good.

Please listen to “Safety Bricks” by Kevin Drew if you can. It is the official soundtrack of my weekend.

And then read this poem, which sums up in words I couldn’t come up with the way I feel about my life right now. I would have read it at Beatnik Night the other night but someone got engaged instead.

“i thank You God for most this amazing”
ee cummings

i thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes

(i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun’s birthday;this is the birth
day of life and love and wings:and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth)

how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any-lifted from the no
of all nothing-human merely being
doubt unimaginable You?

now the eyes of my eyes are opened)
