I took a day trip to Vancouver with Jess the other day. What a city!
Over the course of the day we probably walked 10 or 15 miles so it was important to fill up on a huge breakfast. 5 Canadian bucks at the bizarre (locally recommended) “Smile Cafe” got us a huge, hearty breakfast:
Whenever I’m in a city I keep my eyes peeled for interesting little book stores. I’ve seen some pretty incredible ones tucked away in Paris, New York, Italy, Seattle, Portland, and so on. But this one was one of the best. Books were stacked in cartoonish piles. The pictures will speak for themselves I think, but I imagine the little man that worked at the store (hiding behind spectacles and the piles of papers and books on his desk) knew exactly where everything was. Any book title you wanted, I think he could find for you. But I would hate to see what would happen in the unlikely but not impossible event of an earthquake…
Stanley Park in Seattle (I’m sorry for this Charlie Spahn) beats the crap out of central park. Even though the park is pretty well integrated into the city of Vancouver itself, its an enormous park with winding trails through the mighty sequoias. You might walk out your front door downtown, go for a jog, and end up in the rainforest 2 miles later.
The texture of the city skyline is amazing:
