Life changes…

Well, everyone. I’m sitting at the Parker hotel in Palm Springs California out here to shoot a wedding with my friend Samuel Lippke. My time on the road has been an incredible experience these last few months. The places I’ve gone have been incredible, second only to the people that I’ve met and spent time with along the way. The vulnerability of honing my craft in the midst of constant movement and relocation has been so formative.

One night I’m sleeping at a bus station, the next night I’m curling up at a fancy hotel. There has been a simplicity to my journey mixed with the everyday complexities that life throws at you, and that paradox has taught me so much. And my journey is not quite over. In essence, I hope it never is. I hope that I carry the lifestyle and values that I’ve established during this time with me for the rest of my life. But I knew that I wouldn’t be able to live Kerouac-style forever. I will continue to travel around the country through October, November and then will be ending this season of my life in December back where I started– in New York City. Then I’ll be off to London for a month, immersing myself in the city and (hopefully) building up a bit of a client base there. And then I’ll be moving in with my good friend Ira, who lives in beautiful Greenwich Village in New York.

I’m going to continue posting regularly on this blog, searching for beautiful experiences and people to aim my lens at, but it will be nice to have a home base again. To have the same bed to go back to most nights, a chest of drawers to keep my clothes in. Wow, those luxuries seem so far from me right now but I’m going to be so appreciative of them.

If you could all do me a huge favor. If you like this blog, could you please “digg” me. (For those of you who aren’t familiar with Digg, you can find out more here.) That would be a huge help for me as I try and build a community of people with Loose Luggage. You can also rate this blog with Technorati.

I leave you all with this image that I took in Vancouver which I found to be strange and beautiful and ironic. Thank you all for being a part of this journey with me.

  1. Adam! Your a rock star! I am constantly in awe of your work and the amazing life you lead. I appreciate the boldness you seem to live and risks you take doing what you want to. I know you will go far and I can’t wait to read about it. I didn’t know you left Long Beach and I’m only sorry I didn’t say good bye. I hope you will visit from time to time.

I have always thought you to be one of the most talented people I’ve meet and I have only seen you progress. I’m sure it has not always felt that way but your work tells I different story.

Stay real, stay true, and live your life on mission and always remember the “Story”. I know I will hear your name in the future. If it means anything at all you have a fan in the town of Long Beach.

Go forward in boldness my friend,
