Well, I’ve been wanting to post this for over a week now but just haven’t gotten around to sorting the pictures with the busyness of the last week. But here it is– one of the highlights of my year so far (no kidding): The GOOD magazine Block Party, San Francisco. For those of you who aren’t aware of what GOOD magazine is, check out their website here. It’s quickly become my favorite magazine out there. In touch with the arts, culture, and travel, with excellent articles about everything from world politics, responsible tourism, food, clothes, and everything else GOOD under the sun, it has an incredibly socially conscious heart, with 100% of your subscription going to one of several charities they support.
I went up to San Francisco last week solely for this event, though I stayed a while and did a lot of other stuff while I was there. It was unbeatable: From grass-fed beef (La Cense), to the best beer out there (New Belgium– my favorite), to Vitamin Water, Mighty Tea Leaf, Clif Bar, Saucony, and organizations like KIVA, and the list goes on. I felt inspired as a photographer and as a person meeting all of the various San Franciscans, all young, energetic, and hopeful. It was an excellent party with free pints of Skinny Dip, 1554 and Fat Tire, squirt gun fights, DJs and bands playing and spinning all afternoon. Plus, the coolest kid I’ve ever met.
Special thanks to Clif Bar for absolutely loading me up with goods (tons of product, a hat, and an awesome reusable-stuffable grocery bag that I travel everywhere with and use regularly).
Also, a shout out to th people from New Belgium who helped me out a TON by holding onto my bags for the day so I didn’t have to haul them around and was able to just enjoy the party.
I think I’m going to plan on being at the next block party wherever it may be!
