Here are some more photos from my time in Maine that I wanted to get out there into cyberspace… This is the barn I grew up playing in. Ruby Sjoberg, my dear grandmother, and my late grandfather, Wally’s barn: This is the early morning sunrise that always poured into the cottage when I woke up [...]

Here’s another perspective on the cottage I stayed in in Northern Maine. After a late night run to the local truck stop for some greasy grits gravy and gizzard greens, my cousin Chad and I were about to head off to bed and I was haunted by the need to capture the glow of the [...]
It’s great to be “home” for a little bit in Long Beach for a much needed breather and a chance to catch up on a giant pile of work I have to do. In a week, I’ll be setting back out again. In the mean time, I’ll try and keep you all posted with some [...]
I haven’t officially accepted the nod for President… but I’m thinking about it. http://www.news3online.com/index.php?code=820k996zp70nrP94nnzH
I’m sorry for my prolonged absence from this blog. It’s been a whirlwind couple of days. After working with my cousins on their farm for a few days (and getting a little sick in the process) I booked a last minute ticket back to California. I decided I really need to “touch base” back in [...]

Unless my plans change, I’ll be leaving Hodgdon on Sunday. It’s been a great couple weeks here in Maine. In the last few days I’ve cleaned out several cow-pens, de-shingled a barn roof, and then yesterday I spent several hours with a whole crew loading hay bails on trucks and unloading them in a barn. [...]

I don’t have much time because my battery on my computer is about to die but I did want to show some highlights from my last few days. I have limited internet access right now, so I’ll put more updates up as soon as I do. Cheers!

After you’ve tried the delicious ice wine at the Bar Harbor Cellars winery (owned by Atlantic Brewing Company) head over to the renowned brewing company headquarters off of Route 3. They have a free tasting of all of their beers. I loved their IPA, SOB, and their Blueberry Ale. The first to use blueberries, Atlantic [...]

Check out this great vineyard, Bar Harbor Cellars, in Bar Harbor. Free tastings! Ask to try the Ice-Wine. It’s something that technically only the Canadians can claim, but its fantastic. Full, mature taste, strong but very sweet– not an easy sip of wine but delicious and full. The grapes are picked just after the first [...]

I went to this great little Pub in Bar Harbor. I honestly can’t remember what sandwich I got but it was incredible. It was some kind of delicious fish with a wasabi mayonaise dressing. Topped off with chips and a Moose Head beer.

While driving to the not-so-good coffee shop in Bangor, Maine, I saw the majestic-blue glow of a community pool to my right while passing through Brewer Maine. I was a little afraid I might come off creepy if I asked the lifeguards if I could photograph the pool, but I assured them I was an [...]

I hung out with Kevin in his Taxidermy shop yesterday and took some shots of his work. He’s very talented. Don’t know if you’ll every need an animal that you’ve shot hung on your wall, but if you do, Kevin’s the man.

With an unbelievable array of flavors and sweets, Scoop’s is a great place to stop for a snack if you’re visiting coastal Maine. I ordered the Blackberry Ice Cream, which was wonderful. They also sell shakes, frozen yogurt, gelato, crepes, and a variety of other desserts. View Larger Map

On Friday evening, Wendy and Kevin and I drove down to the coastal town of Belfast. It was gallery night in town and we had a great time walking around, checking out the galleries, eating at Scoops Ice Cream Shop, and watching the seals down at the waterfront. View Larger Map

On Friday evening, after stopping at a disappointing coffee shop in Bangor that will not be named here, I arrived at my cousin Wendy’s place. They live in a lovely house with a spacious property in the woods. I had a great time hanging out with Kevin, Wendy, Micah, Taylor, Noelle, and Danali. I’ll have [...]

My journey took me through Brewer, Maine on my way to Carmel. I stopped at a little Hockey shop called “Gunn’s Sport Shop” on the way to pick something up (more info to come) that I needed for a little project I’ve had going since Wisconsin. Though I’d give a shout out to Gunn’s who [...]

Well, my family took off two days ago and so I set out with my Uncle Fred’s white stallion to the great “Down East” region of Maine. My little road trip will take me to Carmel, Maine to visit my cousin, and then on to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. View Larger Map

I woke up the other morning early and headed out into the cool, northeastern morning. There was a lacy fog glistening across the fields and woods of Aroostook county. I took some shots while I drove around with my pop.

If when you go to a restaurant, your idea of a good meal is a pile of way more then you or your entire family could ever possibly eat, Grammy’s is the place. They have a great selection of deep-fried everything (with a smattering of other healthier things on the menu). The food is very [...]

This morning I got up at 6:30 with my brother-in-law and 2 cousins. We strapped two kayaks and a canoe onto my uncles truck and drove out to my great uncle Floyd’s lakehouse. Then we canoed/kayaked out to a spot on the lake where there’s a huge rope swing. It was pretty incredible…
