This is a great hostel if you’re visiting San Francisco but you want to get outside of the city and get some peace and quiet. There are 3 other fantastic HI hostels in the city but they fill up quickly. The HI Hostel in Marin is on a secluded old plantation surrounded by acres and acres of State Forest. There’s wonderful hikes, serene beaches, and a friendly staff. The rooms and dining hall are cozy and clean and a screaming deal at $21 a night. Bring groceries from town because there’s no place to get food. You’ll have to drive here because no public transit comes this far except for the 76 bus on Sundays and holidays (last bus at 5:30 PM). Only downside is the slow internet but I guess it just makes it that much more of a getaway.
